Help with travel to San Juan?

We are traveling to San Juan , Puerto Rico in two weeks. This will be our first time there. Does anyone have any travel tips or suggestions for this trip?

  1. Definitely check out a couple of PR sites(google it). I always tell people to exercise common sense, there are bad people every where.  I don't know where you'll be staying but try not to wear flashy jewelry when out and about, if walking carry your purse closed and across not hanging from your shoulder, if driving, keep your doors looked(specially at night), keep your windows up, don't go venture somewhere remote when is getting dark.  I'm not trying to scare you, I lived there for many years and like I said every place has dangers, we just forget because "we are on vacation". Have a wonderful trip!


  2. Things close to San Juan

    Old San Juan - historic old walled city with 2 forts, a cathedral, cobbled streets, Paseo la Princesa promenades (especially on weekends), numerous restaurants.

    Check out the Festival La Casitas (Sat 6pm, Sun 4pm) near the Tourist Info center Old San Juan (close to cruise ships)

    El Yunque rainforest - several trails, waterfalls.

    Luquillo beach (close to El Yunque)

    Bio Bay tour at fajardo

    Day trip to Culebra

    Arecibo Observatory and camuy caves (if caves have re-opened)

    Ponce in the south

    Try the local food from restaurants and road side kiosks

    Metropol

    la Bombonera

    Parrot Club

    Tantra
