  1. I'm gonna finish in June with about 19k of DEBT. 3k tuition and 3k rent a year pretty awful. You could get part time job as long as it doesn't affect your studies.

  2. I don't know how much department you come out with, maybe the photocopier a few paperclips i dunno

  3. oh, debt! well it's around £10,000 for tuition fees and £17,000 for maintainance. you can get by without a job in term time, as long as you work full-time jobs in the holidays. though to help out, part-time jobs in term-time do help, as long as you don't do over about 10 hours a week.

  4. i have £24k student loan - just paid off my £3k overdraft - had pt job at uni too

    xx

  5. I would definitely recommend getting a job part-time, especially in your first year.

If not, then certainly in the holidays! Paying for things like rent and tuition fees can be so bank-breaking, especially with the pathetically measly student loans that we get.

It's also worth getting a student bank account with an overdraft, just in case you do go overboard with the spending.

When I come out of uni, I will have approximately £14,000 worth of debt. Not too bad, depends where you go. My sister in London will have considerably more - about £30,000

If you're careful about budgeting, you should be fine!

  6. I think you mean debt, not dept, which is an abbreviation for "department".  It's good (or maybe frustrating) to know that students in the U.K. are spelling as badly as those in the U.S. these days!

  7. I left with a £13k student loan and no credit card debt...it is possible to do!  I did work part time, though.  You just have to be careful with your money.  I know so many people who left with twice the student loan as me and thousands on various credit cards too and only had a few new pairs of shoes and a sparkly top to show for it!  I suggest getting a part time job once you have settled into your course but you really need to learn to live to your means because you'll find it very easy to spend any extra money you make!!
