Help with video transfering?

i have a sony camcorder, the model is DCR-TRV19, i use windows vista with my computer, and i have to import some video that i recorded, but when i connect the camera, the computer doesnt recognize it, it doesnt do anything at all, and i really need to import the video. now i cant use windows movie maker because of a preoblem with my video card, so how can i import my video???

  1. How are you connecting the camera to your laptop?? If you are connecting it via USB its not going to work!! You need to connect via firewire or iLink in order to get the video on your computer, If you do not have a firewire port you need to get a firewire card. You also may need a vista driver. Check the Sony support site...


  2. Have you ever been able to download video with your camera and Vista?

    You might need a vista compatible driver, visit the sony website for that.

    Your software could be corrupt, you can uninstall and then reinstall your software.

    If you have never been able to download your camera and it's a mini dv (cassette) then, Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.
