Help with virus programs!?

Question

About a week ago, I caught some viruses from an unknown source.

I didn't really have any proper virus software installed, except Zone Alam and Norton(which was expired, so it didn't work). Now I've bought the Norton Internet Security 2008 and trying to install it, but I can't install it before I delete Zone Alarm. Zone Alarm just doesn't want to go away!! It says that I have to make sure other True Vector programs are closed, and I dunno what these are programs are? Help! Thanks in advance!!

you have to go in control panel ..then add/remove programs and remove Zone Alarm then it should work

Try to stop the True Vector service before uninstalling  by going to start-->run-->services.msc (or Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services) locate the service and stop it.

View the right click options in the Zone Alarm systray icon. Look for exit, close, or similar wording.

Read the zone alarm help file.

Your problem is that Norton Internet Security have its own firewall.

Zone alarm is also a firewall. So you cannot have 2 firewalls because they will conflict against each other.

You must uninstall Zone Alarm.

Press Ctrl, Alt, Del to bring out the task manager.

Find the process true vector and end task.

Then uninstall Zone Alarm.

I've had the same experience. Try re-installing windows or Linux on your computer, then get Firefox as your browser, then get avast! Home Edition.

download AVG it is very good virus scanner and work automatically on your computer and remove trozon horse which is very bad virus scanner

I had this same problem a couple of years ago and not sure how I sorted it but I remember that it took an age. Go to start run (assuming you have XP) or (Start and just type the words in Vist) and type  msconfig and then click on the startup tab. Uncheck any references to Norton, symantec and zone alarm an d vector services. Restart your computer.

Download the appropriate norton removal tool from here:

Run the norton removal tool. Go to the control panel and add remove programs and attempt to uninstall zone alarm. If you still get an error don't worry. Restart your computer into safe mode (restart and keep tapping F8 as it boots then follow instructions into safe mode).

Go to add remove programmes and attempt to remove zone alarm again.

If you get any error messages writ them down and add them to your post here - I will come back later and see how you are getting on or you can mail me. Let us know if it works too.
