Hi everybody. This is my wedding dress, Alfred Angelo style 1614:

I'm thinking of doing bridesmaids dresses the same color of the belt on my dress. That yellow/gold color. But, now I don't know what kind of flowers to do. I really want to have blue hydrangeas, but should I carry them, or should the bridesmaids? Yellow flowers, too, or is there enough yellow with the dresses?

  1. Wow, your dress is gorgeous.  My daughter and I are planning her wedding for Valentines Day right now.  Your idea of having the bridesmaids wear that color is super, and I think you should go with having them carry the hydrangeas in blue.  However, you should set yourself apart, and carry a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses, mixed with some yellow fresia, and maybe just a hint of blue to tie everything together.  Best wishes to you!

  2. A nice buttercup yellow would match well. You could carry the blue hydrangeas with maybe small yellow accent flowers and yellow ribbon. Like this, but with some yellow -

Your maids could have smaller versions of your bouquet - or just a nice mix of blues, yellows and whites.

  3. oooo pretty! honestly i dunno if blue goes with that color b/c blue is cool toned...maybe a warmer tone, pale yellow would look great

  4. I think you shoud have the bridesmaids have blue and white bouquets, and yours can have blue, white, and a little bit of yellow. Just make sure that the yellow matches the dresses. Maybe a nice yellow calla lillie? Here are some pics:

  5. BEAUTIFUL! I love the whole look. I work in a flower shop, so here's what I'm thinking:

The belt looks to be a color we call champagne. Kind of a subtle ivory-gold. Your bridesmaids' dresses would look stunning in the color of that sash. No, there is not too much yellow in the dress, yellow flowers will accent it beautifully. Let's stick with yellow and blue. Why don't you use blue hydrangea in the maids' bouquet and use blue in yours. The bridesmaids bouquets could consist of ivory hydrangea to offset your dress, champagne roses to pick up on their dresses, some creamy yellow freesia (Grace freesia its called), and some pretty yellow roses (Skyline roses.) You could have your florist wrap the maids' bouquets in champagne like the dresses and braid them over in blue like the hydrangea (braiding is just where the florist takes a thinner ribbon and wraps it around the thick ribbon. It adds a touch of color to pick up on any hues in the girls' dresses.) Or, vice versa. Your bouquet could consist of blue hydrangea, Skyline roses, Champagne roses, Grace freesia, and any other flower that would be found only in your bouquet (some blue Delphinium would be gorgeous with the hydrangea, some buttercream stock would also look nice, maybe some hypericum berry). You could have your bridal bouquet wrapped in ivory like your dress and braided in champagne or blue. The mens' bouts could be simple stems of champagne roses with some greenery and maybe a sprig of blue hydrangea. The grooms' bout could be the same, but with a touch of white hydrangea to match you. They could be wrapped in champagne. Corsages would also be easy to create. Best of luck to you. Beautiful choice!
