So my sister is getting married and chose red poppies as her theme. I'm her maid of honor and pretty much her planner. She ordered these invitations (http://www.whiteaisle.com/poppy_invitation.html) with the font brown and the poppies red. However, the color scheme my sister is interested is full of BRIGHT colors...greens, oranges, pinks and such. How can I tie the red poppies theme into the bright colors of her wedding??? I'm coming up with a blank! Poppies are very classy but her color scheme is so fun! PLEASE HELP! Any idea would be great!!! THANK YOU!!!

  1. I am sorry, I cannot see the invitation.  But I think the bright red of the poppies will work well with the other bright colors.  The chances of people even thinking that red was not in the wedding are slim.

  2. I would suggest talking the her florist and telling her what you are looking for. She can show you flowers that match the colors that you are looking for. I don't quite understand what you mean by a "theme". I choose my bridesmaid dresses first and then choose flowers, tableclothes, napkins, etc. that flowed with the color of the dresses.

  3. I'd say Red is also a bright color.  The green is your neutral and blending the red, with orange and pink sounds nice.  Just make sure that some of the flowers that you select are Red Poppies!  Best of Luck

  4. Go with red, orange, yellow and purple poppies each in a bundle :]

  5. What about instead of making the wedding theme red poppies you can just make the theme poppies? Poppies come in red, orange and pink - I am sure that you can mix them all together.

  6. unless it was like, blood red, I'd say red is a "bright" color. I would use the brown and red with your other bright colors, as brown offsets bright colors well. make the brown in accents - like, if you have bright colored napkins, tie them with a brown ribbon. if a bouquet is bright colors, have the stems tied in brown tape. stuff like that. put the red in with the bright colors, it should do fine. if you need a color reference, I would suggest going to a paint store and finding the colors for your wedding in the paint swatches. that way, you can see how well any color goes with other colors that you're using.

I don't know about you, but I've always seen poppies as a fun flower. I think you can make it work.

I suggest also incorporating paper flowers into your scheme, like this: http://www.expertvillage.com/video/20352... or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rT_SLFFt3... (I wouldn't suggest cutting the notch in the center - I also wouldn't cut the edges)

these will invoke poppies very well. you can make them as large or small as you want, and in any color you want.
