I want to purchase an affordable 5.1 or 7.1 for use with my HD tv and PS3, with preferably HDMI imput since that's the best quality. However, i'm quite noobish with all this and don't know where to begin. Some help and advice would be excellent. Thanks!

  1. Sony Bravia 32 inch!!! awesome!! with HDMI cable (any would work it doesnt have any difference)

  2. well, you can go with a fta setup.. maybe find a bin file floating around.. and get dishnetwork for free. can get hd tv too..

    sdfta.com

  3. If you are looking for a very good system I would recommend going with a receiver that has HDMI throughput.  Meaning you can hook all of your Audio and Video components to it and only run one HDMI cable from the receiver to your television.  I would recommend either a Denon or Harmon Kardon receiver.  After that, speaker selection, this is a very subjective process.  I prefer tower speakers in the front and bookshelves in the back.  Go out to you local electronics retailer and check out your options.  My recommendations are Klipsch, JBL, or MartinLogan (only if you have the money).

  4. go to circuit city and as them as for the onkyo entertainment center the one that has hdmi outputs im looking at one right now we have out WII PS3 Xbox360 and out cable box all pluged into it and everythings connected to the tv and home audio we got the polka audio i think and it sounds sweeeet the entertainment center has the hdmi cables to the tv so everything is converted even our blueray cable from the ps3 and the hdmi from the WII butt your going to need a universal remote hope that helped

  5. OK, a couple of questions.

How big is the room you will be using (can you use floor-standing speakers, or would you need stand-mounters / satellites)?

How much have you got to spend?

It is important to know that there are currently no genuine discrete 7.1 systems available - only those that generate a 'phantom' 7.1 sound from a 5.1 signal.
