Help with wisdom teeth pain?

Okay, I am 14 years old and a few days ago I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. Shortly after that I had to go to the emergency room for the night because of dehydration. Right now I'm starting to eat more foods like mashed potatoes going astray from ice cream(remember I still can barely open my mouth) I take pain pills every 4-6 hours and put frozen peas on my face to keep swelling down. Is there anything at all I can do to speed the healing process? Or anything to do to numb the pain a little more?

  1. After the first few days, you can switch to warm compresses instead of cold. Try it, and see if it feels better than ice now; if not, keep going with the cold for a while longer.

Swishing with warm salt water can help, too. It dislodges any potential food matter that might be stuck in the sockets. Just do it carefully. The salt also helps prevent infection.

Other than that, there's not too much I can suggest in the way of pain control. I found that distraction was really the best technique. Watch a movie, for example; something to get your mind focused on something other than, "I'm in so much pain". Sorry to say that's the best I can offer you...I know it sucks, but it really does get much better each day after this point. After about a week, I didn't even need pain pills anymore. Good luck.
