  1. use duct tape. and a lot of it.

  2. How old are your windows? Maybe they need replacing. You should get doubled glazed windows. They reduce condensation and trap the heat in your home, reducing energy costs.

If you cant afford new windows, I suggest putting silicon along the lining of the windows, cementing any cracks and keeping them open during the day to ventalate the room.

Dont use staples. They will mark your property and reduce its value. Get a cheap curtain rod, or ask friends for old ones, look in skips, restore shops, etc.

Or...Put on a jumper. Ha. Good luck. =]

  3. The plastic sheets are the best!  I second that.  They're available in any hardware or home supply store.

  4. You can buy plastic sheeting at the harware store to cover your windows that seals to the window frame using a blow dryer.  Its fairly easy to install, is thin enough you can still see through it and it keeps out the drafts.

  5. Get thermal window treatements.  They keep the heat out in the summer and cold in the winter.  They are just as effective as blankets but they won't look bad  when they are up. You would use a  curtain rod so you won't have to worry about staples.  Try Bed Bath and Beyond or somewhere like that.
