  1. burn decks are good just make sure you build it right,

    sacred phoenix is not good it, it destroys ur defences

  2. ok so when i went to my first tournament i would say the most common deck i went up against would be a macro cosmos deck. i dont exactly know how to counter it but i would advise not to get greedy in taking away his lifepoints so early. i made that mistake myself. i had 3 monsters on the field and he had 1. i summoned a new one and he torrential tribute. i would have won that match. so dont make the same mistake i did. and on a burn deck i would run 3 solar flare dragons and 3 ufo turtles. and lastly sacred pheonix isnt all that good. its two tributes with 2400 atk. and his effect is when its destroyed by a card effect u special summon it back during your standby phase and when it does that u destroy all spell and trap cards on the field. i mean its pretty good in some eyes but if u just want it to destroy spell and traps i got one card 4 u. HEAVY STORM

  3. all i want to say is that you surely need a LAVA GOLEM and trap cards to protect your monsters for they to burn and burn your opponent...

  4. Ok, the most common and best nowadays are:

    Six Samurai

    Lightsworn

    DAD(Dark Armed Dragon)

    Monarch Control

    Gladiator Beasts

    To counter them, I guess i would say that:

    Six Samurai is a swarm deck, designed to overwhelm the opponent with lots of monster. Also they have over lapping effects that protect each other.  The best way to kill these decks, is to use cards like Lighting Vortex or Torrential Tribute, to mass kill them off.

    Lightsworn decks are very good and can get OTKs (One turn kills) with Judgment Dragon on the 1st turn. However, if you are lucky enough for this to not happen, their greatest weakness i guess, is that they have to discard lots of cards from the deck to keep the monsters on the field. So if they were to say run out of cards, you would win. This is highly unlikes unless you play cards like Hand of Destruction and others to burn their deck out quickly. Otherwise this is a very solid deck.

    For Dark Armed Dragon, I'm not positive of a solid good way to counter these decks. Dark Armed Dragon decks are usually used alongside D.D. decks since D.D. monsters are deck and by using Dark Armed Dragons ability, the D.D. monsters can be removed from play then re-summoned via Return from the Different Dimension and other cards like that. The only thing i can think of is to make sure they cant summon DAD by playing cards like Dimension Fissure. That way, there cant be monsters in the graveyard so DAD cant be summoned. But by playing Dimension Fissure, you are helping your opponent in the D.D. monster area.

    Monarch Control Decks revolve around the 7 monarchs. The idea is to use cards like Enemy Controller and Brain Control to take control of the opponents monster and use them as tribute to summon your own Monarchs. These decks have been weakened since Raiza the Storm Monarch has been restricted to one. The best thing i guess would be to make sure you remain in control of your monsters by countering with  Mystical Space Typhoon or Magic Jammer/Trap Jammer.

    Gladiator Beasts are powerful because of their effect that they can switch out monsters if they attacked or were attacked and survived. Also they can fuse without polymerization. Just make sure that their monsters die the first time, other wise they can switch them out for stronger monsters. However, the next ban list will kill Gladiator Beasts and make them a lot weaker.

    One last deck that I think is powerfully but not that popular is the Cyber/Cyberdark dragon deck. They can be good if built right and used right. However, you will not see many of these cards as they are not ver ypopular. Just try to remove the Cyber Dragons and Cyberdark from play and prevent fusions.

    If you are using a burn deck, be sure to have magic cards that afflict lots of damage like:

    Wave-Motion Cannon

    and use the whole Tri-Blaze Accelerator with Volcanic Deck.

    Some cards that belong in that deck:

    Monster Cards

        * Volcanic Slicer

        * Volcanic Rocket

        * Volcanic Blaster

        * Volcanic Shell

        * Volcanic Counter

        * Volcanic Doomfire

        * Infernal Flame Emperor

        * Volcanic Hammerer

    Spell Cards

        * Wave-Motion Cannon

        * Soul of Fire

        * Blaze Accelerator

        * Tri-Blaze Accelerator

        * Wild Fire

        * Pot of Avarice

    Trap Cards

        * Spiritual Fire Art - Kurenai

        * Backfire

    You will also need stall cards since Burn Decks may be slow:

    Scapegoats

    Stray Lambs

    Swords of Revealing Light

    and other cards of that sort.

    Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys is an ok card. His effect only comes in if he is destroyed by a special effect so it is quite circumstantial and not useful in all situations. I would not put him in a burn deck since he does not 1)Stall or 2)Inflict Damage to Opponents Life points.
