Ok,

My mom wants to homeschool me and I am going in the 9th grade but she wants to use "not real" books such as ones from our local library and used book stores, hand me downs and so and so mostly because it's cheaper(lol). I have been homeschooled twice before and it didnt work out so well because you see I like to talk alot. I dont want to go to the local High School because it is so bad. I am not worried about not having friends cuz you know theres all those groups.I was just wondering if any of you have homeschooled your kids with these such books and can tell they're REALLY learning and how are they're social lives and how do you not get tired of being around them? The main reason being if I do go back to high school I dont want to take that test or whatever and get sent back to 8th grade. Please help me im in quite the predicament.

Thanks SOOOO much!

  1. Those are real books. Textbooks are like predigested food. Memorize it and spit it back out for a test. It sounds like you and your mom are going to have a lot of fun. Give it a try. She's on your team-don't forget that she wants you to enjoy school.

Anytime you are reading-you are learning something. I never get tired of my kids because I like them. They are interesting individuals who have time to follow their passions. When they were in public school, they were tired and grumpy all the time. Your mom cares about you. So many kids here on yahoo Answers wishhh their parents would let them homeschool. They would trade with you in a minute.

    Best of Luck!

  2. Honey, those books are as real as it gets.  Many people have gotten a high school education with nothing more than a math book, a notebook, and a libtrary card.  As long as you're learning stuff you never knew before, it doesn't matter if the book was previously used.  Don't tell me that every book you ever used in public school was brand-new-never-used-before????

Learn your stuff well, so that IF you go back to public high school, when they give you those tests, they'll be able to give you credits for the work you've done and not have to put you back.
