My Daughter is 9 months old. Last week sh fell off the bed which was 2.5 ft high. I' ve been paranoid ever since, but the day she fell I took her to the ER where they said she was fine and gave me signs to look for. I monitored her and nothing unusual came up.....

Ok- So, on that Following Friday she went for her 9 Month C/U and got shots....She never ran a fever, but on Friday late evening she got a cold and cough....

Ok- Now, its now a week after she had her shots and she is very FUSSY and still has somewhat of a cold and is not eating like she normally does- She is eating, but not as much.

Do you think that she is just now starting to have side effects from the fall and it could be affecting her now? or could it be from the shots? Im so scared and worried the fall could now be affecting her in someway, and im scared of Brain injuries.

What do you think???

  1. I think that you should go back to the ER and get her checked again. it may be because of the shots, tell them all the side effects she has. good luck

  2. Hi ;) the cold may be just because of the shot!!! Were those symptoms amongst those the doctors asked you to look for? if not, I would blame the shot! After all a shot is a little dose of the disease, so it can make you sick. Plus you seem to mention a decrease in her symptoms, so it's a good sign that it's not something really bad...

If you are still worried or if you see her situation worsens do call the doctor, though!!

Good luck and congrats for your baby ;)

  3. well i am not a doctor but i think the best thing is to take her to see a doctor maybe its the shots but dont take my word for it good luck

  4. No,  I don't think so but that's just me.

Due to the shots and her age,  fever and being fussy doesn't surprise me.  She is cutting teeth, probably molars.   Kids don't eat the same all the time.   Now if she was losing weight,  be concerned.

and  if you are still paranoid,  talk to your pediatrician

  5. Babies are very, very resilient. If the docs checked her out and say she is fine, she is most likely just fine. It would take a pretty hard fall to do damage, and damage like that would be rather obvious pretty quickly. 9 month olds are just fussy sometimes, I am sure she is fine. And cough and cold are not symptoms of brain injuries.

  6. My son fell off of my bed once, and I was worried sick. I would assume it was maybe a slight reaction to a shot that caused the cold. That could make her not feel to good, and when babies don't feel good they tend to eat less. As long as she is eating still and getting fluids then I wouldn't worry, although I know myself that it is hard not to. If it was a side effect from the fall, you would have probably noticed it immediately when she fell. And it wouldn't have caused a cold, it would have probably made her stare into nowhere if it was from the fall. So try not to worry, it is probably from the shots. If you can't seem to ease your mind, it never hurts to call your doctors office and speak to a nurse just to make sure, and give you an ease of mind. Hope this helps (:

  7. I think it's just a coincidence. I wouldn't worry too much about it. What was she like when you found her on the floor? did she hit anything?

My babies have fell off the bed three times already, they are quick little ones now. I wouldn't worry

  8. You have asked this question now about 20 times and everyone is giving you the same answer. Maybe you should just buy a big bubble for her to live in.

  9. Relax.  You took her to the doctors and had her examined.  She is ok.  The shots and the cold symptoms were probably coincidental considering the long list of side effects they give you do not mention  immediate cold symptoms.  If you relax she will relax and recover quicker.  She is listening to your concerns and her body will heal much faster if she is hearing words that speak peace and release faith for healing.

  10. Sounds like the shots. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If she were lethargic I would worry.

  11. More than likely, shes probably getting a little irritated with still being sick.  My daughter used to get really cranky when a cold lasted a little longer than we had hoped for.  The reactions to shots usually only last a couple of days.. it was never more than 2 days for my daughter.

As for the Fall, i really think that if anything serious had happened the signs would be much more visable by now.  You dont have to take any of our word for it, but if things presist, and you dont feel comfortable, go see your doctor again.

  12. Im possitive it has absolutaly nothing to do with the fall or the shots!

She could be teething or she could just have the common cold.

Don't worry you'll just stress yor self out.

As long as she's eating and theirs no fever.

If you are still concerned take her to your family doctor.

    Good Luck!

  13. I think you are paranoid

  14. No, I highly doubt it is from the fall!  When anyone gets hit on the head, like actually gets a concussion, it happens right away.  They would have told you at the ER if there was anything seriously wrong with her.  I got a concussion once and it happens right then and then you have symptoms of the accident for a few days.

Don't worry, its not the fall.  Many times, physicians say that those shots don't have any side effects but they do.  My kids always ran a fever and were cranky for the next day or so.  Also, she is nine months old, has she started teething?  I always thought that my daughter (my 1st) was getting a cold, but actually she got cold symptoms when she was teething.  I would guess that your baby either has a small cold or starting teething.  It isn't from the fall and she doesn't have brain damage!  If she doesn't get better and gets worse, call the doctor, and maybe they can suggest some medicine.  Trust me, my daughter rolled off the bed and I freaked out too!  She was perfectly fine.  Despite of all of your worrying, you are just being a good Mom for being concerned.  Good Luck!

  15. no the bed fall has nothing to do with it, however i am wondering why she is in a bed at 9 months old??? babies dont start with a bed untill at least 12 months of age then start with a low smaller bed and move on to a bigger bed,

  16. Is she teething?

I don't think it's from the fall or the shots.  Maybe she's just got a cold or she's teething.

Don't stress over the fall.  I know it was a hard thing for you to go thru, but I'm sure she's fine.  :)

  17. I'm sure that cold and cough were not one of the signs that the ER told you to look out for. (IF it was, and only if, then take her back to the ER for monitering) But I really suspect that it is shot related. Talk to your baby's doctor about what you can do in relation to cough, cold reaction to your baby's shots.

  18. The fall would not in anyway cause this. A cold is more likely just that...a cold! The shots may have effected her mood, which is making her fussy. Don't worry about it, it will pass. Talk to your doctor if you are worried still

  19. I think you are little anxious as all mothers are when it comes to their little baby. But I think your baby is OK .Usually the effect of the fall presents within few hours to 48hrs after that the effects will not be there .Child may present with drowsiness, vomiting etc.Your baby has traversed that period without any problem. So he is quite OK. The present symptoms look like that of a cold or vaccination. Moreover God has created the baby who is intended to fall frequently with what is called fontanellae which closes only late so mild falls would not affect the brain. For any small doubts regarding your baby and his development you can refer the site

  20. First of all, I'm a nurse and I can tell you that brain injuries do not have symptoms like coughing etc.  If your child did not go remained alert after the fall and the Dr. examined her.. She is probably ok.  Of course her shots could be causing her loss of appetite and fussiness... those are side effects.. If your truly worried, call your Dr. though.
