Helping Sales People What Customers Want.?

We operate in a large Stationery shop.

Our opperating manager is trying to improve our sales, he wants us to try using new quotes. Ie: "Can i help you there" "Are you alright there" "Need any help" We want to try interact with our customers.

We are all stuck for ideas, and want something new that doesnt make us seem like fools.

So any help would be appreciated.

  1. what about: hi how are you, can i help you with anything?

  2. I've been a sales associate for a few years now... the only thing that works... is to get to know your customer.... ask how their day is going so far... what they are looking for... why they want it... ask questions.. I know it may seem pushy... but i seem to find that people like it when you are curious as to why they are buying what they are... I hope this makes a bit of sense... Hope I helped a bit... have a good day :)

  3. your questions area all yes or no answres that csan easily e shut down by the averge shopper who doesn'y want to be "sold"

more experienced sales people use a tactic called "qualifing"

to determine what the customers needs are and what they are worried about.

try opening a conversation about their needs

did you need something for a special event or every day use?

what type of stationary were you looking for today?

Were you sending invitations or thank you cards.

how many people did you need to include?

anyway. you get the idea..  ( i hope)
