Question:

Helping the fight against hunger. Any Ideas?

I am starting a charity foundation to help the poorest of the poor. I hope to concentrate on the following areas - child welfare ( food/shelter/education), health care, uplifting livelihoods, housing and environmental care. I feel very passionate about provding food for children, but I dont know how I can do this. I do not want to provide food for ABLE adults - because then they tend to rely totaly on charity and become lazy. I know some cases, where the parents sell the food that they get from charities to do drugs etc. I want to avoid this, so how do I give food to children and DESERVING adults without getting exploited.

Thanks.

  1. I think the best way to help children is to ask the children directly.  See if you can set up something at a local school asking kids what ways they feel as a community is appropriate to fight hunger...you might be surprised what they say.  Go to nearby Churches and ask them what they think you could do to start up a fund raiser for your foundation.  Or shelters that house homeless kids or moms.  And along the way you'll probably find that lots of people will jump on board.  I hope this helps...and I think that it is a great start.  Children need more people like you (smile).

  2. You could start small, and learn as you go.  I'd go to the nearest battered women's shelter.  They may know exactly what you could do, or refer you to others who could benefit from your great desire to help those in dire need.  Your great wish will come true - may it forever multiply!  Have a healthy and happy new year!
