Question:

Helping them further?

My friend and I had a 300 people combinded birthday for our 14th birthday. We didn't want to have 300 presents, and honestly didn't need it. In 100 nvitations we asked for a bag of Natural Balance dog/cat food for the shelter. In 100 we asked for diapers and wipes for an organization that gives them to people who can barely afford them. In 100 we asked for a toy for the homeless shelter playroom, that doesn't have any toys.

We had the party Saturday. All the gifts (well donations) were brought to my house in a couple trucks/cars. We got 77 bags of cat food and 107 bags of dog food. We have 139 toys and 62 books. We have 186 boxes of diapers and 76 boxes of wipes.

We dropped them off and it was sadder and sadder for each place. What should we do to continue to help them?

  1. You could hold fundraisers from time to time throughout the year.  The two of you sound pretty creative and caring, you could raise quite a bit of money for these organizations.  Organize car washes, bake sales, races, etc.  You could get the word out about these places and their needs.  You could look into volunteering your time, but you may be a little too young (at least at the animal shelter) to volunteer without your parents, but you should ask.  I thank you two for what you did and I admire you greatly.  Happy belated birthday.

  2. Use any event like this as a tool to get people to give! KUDOS TO YOU! Your my new hero! :D

  3. Amazing, I hope I can raise my kids to be so giving!!!!!  Way to go guys!

  4. If you find coins on the street, or in your wallet, around the house whatever make a jar for each charity. Ask your friends to help and anyone they know.

Instead of buying school lunch make a lunch and ask you parents to donate the unused lunch money to your fund.

When the jars are full wrap the coins and bring them to the organization they are for.

    Just a few ideas.

ALSO I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR BEING ONE OF THE MOST GENEROUS 14 YEAR OLDS IN THE WORLD. YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS SHOULD BE PROUD!

  5. You can volunteer and continue collecting donations
