Just needed to ask, my daughter has two of her own children a friend of a friend, keeps dumping her little boy at my daughter house, seems she doesn't want the child (the friend) now the question I am asking how would we (my hubby and I) go about getting custody of that child?

This mum has even left her child alone and my daughters friend had to climb in a window to rescue this child he is four weeks old, the mother of the child did not even notice the child was missing.

And yes we (my hubby and I) have been wanting a child of our own, but we are not able to fall pregnant, please could anyone tell us what steps to follow.

We are in South Africa.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Ask the mother is you can help raising her child.  Or if you think she can't even raise it on her own then ask her if you can raise it on your own.  Just be choosy with your words.

  2. I cannot answer what the laws in South Africa say, but for the sake of this child, please call the authorities.  If the mother is leaving this child home alone, it's likely that she isn't meeting his other needs--food, clean diapers (or nappies).  This baby needs to be in a safe environment.  You probably should let the authorities know that you would be willing to take this child.  In the USA, you'd need to apply through the state for a foster care license.  I would call your local child welfare or protection agency and give them the information.  This child needs and deserves a safe, caring home.  Please don't let him stay in this horrific situation.  If his mother didn't notice that he was missing, she isn't apt to be very concerned with his other needs.  This is child ABUSE.

  3. go to child social services or the equivlent in your country and see about foster parenting first. they would or should come by and check on the situation.  they could proably help you more than anyone on here.

  4. Try to help raise that little Guy!! Poor thing....
