Helppp , how can i get fiancial aid ???

Question

First of all ,I am addopted .When i applied for the FAFSA , they decline me b/c both my parents make enough money to support me but me n my addopted dad does not get along , and he takes care of all the money in the house .They dont give me any money towards my school ,i have a job but usually after a semister , there goes all the money that i save and i really need to save for a car and such . What can i do about this ? I moved to ny now [they live in nj] .can i fill it out stating that i live on my own ? or are they still held responsible until im 21 yrs old beacuse this really isnt fair that i cant get aid b/c my parents can afford but they dont help me anything .I really want to go to school but im really struggling to come up with the money by myself.

You cannot file your FAFSA without your parents information until you are 24 years old. You should at least be given a Stafford Loan from filing your FAFSA.  

If you have not moved to NY, you are most likely going to be considered an out-of-state student and be paying really high tuition.  

If you have tried talking to your parents and that doesn't work, you can try talking to the financial aid office at the school to see if there are any scholarships for which you qualify, they can explain other loan options to you as well.  

If that doesn't work, you may have to go part-time and only take however many of credit hours your stafford loan will cover each semester until you are 24 and can then file your FAFSA on your own.
