  1. sorry i answered wrong on your other question but3.00x10^8 divided by 1610 would get the answer

so the answer is 186335.4037 miles/s

in significant figures (for chemistry) its 1.86x 10^5 miles/s

sorry about the other answer in the other problem

this one is right im sure

  2. To change from m/s to m/h multiply by 3600, 60 minutes to an hour and sixty seconds to a minute.

    This is 3.0 x 3.6 x 10^8 * 10^3 =

    1.08 x 10^12 m/h

To convert from meters to miles divide that number by 1610.

    (1.08 x 10^12) / (1.61 x 10^3) = .6708 x 10^9 =

    6.708 x 10^8 miles per hour.   <<<<<

  3. 1610 meters?

  4. Not what pokepika said, they left the answer in miles per second instead of miles per hour.

What lilbp11 said is almost right, except that there are 3600 seconds in an hour (60 seconds in each minute, 60 minutes in an hour) rather than 60 seconds per hour.  So you'd have:

    3 x 10^8 meters/sec * (3600 sec/hour) * (1 mile/1610meters).

In mine there, I've used dimensional analysis, something you may come across later if you haven't already.  You take the value you're starting with, and multiply it by things that equal one.  Since there are 1610 meters in one mile, then (1610 meters / 1 mile) = 1, and so does (1 mile/1610meters).  We pick which way to write it based on what we're converting away from: make sure the unit you're trying to get rid of cancels out, by having one set of meters on top and one on bottom.  Here, we have 3.0 x 10^8 meters on top in the first part, and 1610 meters on the bottom in the last part.

Since there are 3600 seconds in one hour, then (3600 seconds / 1 hour) = 1 = (1 hour / 3600 seconds).  Since we started with the seconds in the bottom in the first part (3 x 10^8 m / second), we put the seconds on top in the second part (3600 seconds / 1 hour) so that they cancel out.  You know, in the same way that in

    5   8

    -- * --

    8   10

you can cancel the 8s and be left with 5/10.  Units have to follow the same rules that numbers do.

    Hope this helps!

  5. First lets convert s to h

    So 1 hour=60 seconds

    3x10^8m/s(60s/h)=180 x10^8 m/h

The you convert the meters to miles

1 mile = 1610 meters (Im assuming from what you wrote above)

    180 x10^8m/h (1mile/1610 meters)= ?

Im sure you could do the math.

    Hope this helps!
