A concert is givin in pittsburgh alex and mary want to go to the concert. The first 50 miles of their trip was posted at 35mph. The next 100 miles is posted at 55mph. The last 50 miles was posted at 40 mph. If they leave their house at 4 pm, will they make the concert by 8 pm? please show work!

It's a matter of determining how log it takes them to drive each leg of the trip.

50/35 = 1.43 hours

100/55 = 1.82 hours

50/40 = 1.25 hours

Add the times together and it took 4.5 hours to get to the concert, so no, they would have arrived at 8:30 pm.

Impossible to tell. Do we assume they will be traveling the speed limit? Are they walking? Riding bikes?
