http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102 was eager to pick up positives from the Reds current season of mixed fortunes, and believed that they have got the potential to break into the top-four in their next Premier League campaign.
Even though Liverpool have suffered a dismal form in the league, they did leave their mark on the domestic cup competitions, having won the Carling Cup in February and finished as runner-ups in the FA Cup.
However, the 21-year old wants his side to draw confidence from their remarkable run in the cup competitions, and despite their abject capitulation in the league, felt that at times they had displayed signs of their true calibre.
He made an assessment of the entire season by mentioning, “Overall, it's been an up and down season. But I think we have achieved great things as a team in winning the Carling Cup and getting to the final of the FA Cup.”
The English International also highlighted the importance of their League cup win earlier in February, as it ended their six years title drought and renewed the confidence in the squad.
Touching the subject of their poor display in the league, Henderson believed that the Reds will only improve in the next season. He also felt that they had been unfortunate in front of goal, hitting the frame of the goal on multiple occasions, and stressed
the need for improved finishing.
Henderson arrived at Anfield from Sunderland in June last year for an estimated fee of close to 20 million pounds. Since then, he has made 48 appearances for Liverpool, and scored 2 goals in the process. However, the player’s lavish signing by the club had
stirred a debate over his actual potential value, as so far he has failed to justify his whooping price tag.
Nevertheless, the midfielder was pleased to get ample opportunity during his first full season at Anfield, and admitted that he failed to get-off to a best possible start.
“That gelling process doesn't just happen overnight but I think good players should be able to play with each other pretty quickly. It depends which way you look at it but, of course, it takes time for everyone to gel.” He added.
Liverpool will play their final game against Swansea City on Sunday at the Liberty Stadium. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on Tuesday in the game.
“We have to concentrate on the last bit of the season and making sure we finish as strongly as possible.”
