Hendrie Fourie is keen to add to England caps
Hendrie Fourie hopes that he can add to his England caps ahead of his team’s Autumn Test with Australia at Twickenham on Saturday 13 November.
Fourie made his debut for England as a second half substitute against New Zealand when he replaced his injured captain Lewis Moody.
"It was awesome to make my debut. I was very nervous when heading to the stadium. But once you are in the changing rooms and strapping up then it started to feel like a normal game,” Fourie told BBC Radio Leeds.
The Leeds flanker is included amongst the substitutes again for the match against Australia and he is keen to make another appearance in the Autumn Internationals.
"If you didn't want to play more of that then there is something wrong with you. It was very enjoyable once I got on and I want more of that now. The crowd was awesome. It's the biggest crowd I've ever played in front of and they created so much noise,”
added the forward.
Fourie believes that having made his debut against the All Blacks, he will settle into playing for England if called upon.
"Now I've made my debut I think I'll be even more confident," said the Leeds flanker.
The England international played in the Championship two years ago and Fourie is shocked by his sudden rise in rugby.
"It's just so surreal to me and just means so much to me to be here. It's unbelievable. I would take a start anywhere and against anyone for England. I can't fathom it really. I sit on my bed in the hotel and think where am I, what am I doing,” said Fourie.
The flanker may win his first start in England’s Test match against Samoa on Saturday 20 November.
For now, Fourie will be content with a place on the substitutes' bench, but he will be eager to feature again having got a taste of international rugby.
