Hendrik teams in full potential for 2011 shootout – NASCAR news
Rick Hendrik with his all four teams is fully prepared for this year’s shootout. His team drivers Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt will participate in this year’s Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway.
26-years of competition have earned Hendrick Motorsports 9 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship, three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series titles and one NASCAR Nationwide Series title.
It is one of the stock-car’s premier organisations. After bagging more than 185 victories, it makes Hendrick the second company owner of modern era.
This season counting the 33rd annual event will launch Speed weeks at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 12, 2011 beginning at 8.10 pm. ET.
The event will be broadcast nationally on FOX, MRN and ET. The newly paved track will be a place to mark the event of NSACAR Sprint Cup Series. The tracks have been intensively repaired by putting 50,000 tons of asphalt and spending millions of dollars.
Criteria for qualifications will be marking the drivers who took part in previous two seasons of NASCAR Sprint Sup Series. Its considerations are upon the drivers that qualified for the 2010 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, past champions of NASCAR Sprint
Cup Series, past shootout champions, winners from last Daytona 500 and July event at the 2.5 mile speedway and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year from 2001-2010.
“When u take a look at the field of this year’s Budweiser Shootout at Daytona, It’s loaded with all-star caliber drivers,” said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR vice president of competition. “From former series champion and Chase drivers, to the past 10 rookie of
the year performers, to drivers who have had success at Daytona, we believe the fans are in store for a terrific and highly competitive event on a brand new racing surface.”
The race consists of two segments 25 and 50 laps of total 75 laps, keeping the race distance same. Both types of laps will be in count green-flag and yellow-flag. Break of 10 minutes will separate both segments carrying time for pit stops. Allowing the team
to add fuel, change tyres and make some slight changes in chassis. Teams are restricted to do some normal pit stop changes as for any NASCAR Sprint Cup events. The work is to be performed at pit roads or in the garage. Things not permitted in pit stop are
the changes as Springs, shock absorbers or rear-end.
Shootout Party on Friday, February 11 will hold a blind-draw which will determine the starting positions for SPEED stage.
