Henlow, New Year Dash, Grade OR, 277m – Results
Grade OR New Year Dash, was run over a distance of 277 metres, and it was held at Henlow on 5 January, 2012. Six greyhounds named as Forest Breeze, Olympus Jack, Ritas Sapphire, Merills Maverick, Ceide Rabbo and Greenlough Ball participated in the
event.
Forest Breeze, finished first in the race. It was for the fifth time that he achieved top position in 277 meters category. Breaking from Trap 5, the dog made a promising start.

Within five to six seconds, he surpassed his competitors, who tried their utmost to catch him, but their efforts were in vain. At last, Forest Breeze reached the finish line in 16.90 seconds.
It was the 12th race for, Forest Breeze, who made his debut on 26 May, 2011, running over a distance of 277 meters at Henlow and came out of his maiden race as the victor.

Whelped in January 2009, the dog is trained by H J Dimmock. The winner bagged the 1st
prize of €150.

Olympus Jack, was the dog to finish second in the race. He broke from trap 2, and on many occasions during the race, Olympus Jack came close to Forest Breeze.  
He crossed the finish line in 17.15 seconds.  
The dog has run a number of races so far, and his success ratio has been excellent. He was whelped in November 2007, and he is trained by D Mullins.
The 3rd finisher of the race was, Ritas Sapphire, who completed the distance in 17.34 seconds. Starting from Trap 6, she ran well throughout the race. Whelped in February 2009, the b***h gets training from P J Crawley.
Since her debut on 28 August, 2010, it was for the first time that, Ritas Sapphire participated in 277 meters race.

Ritas Sapphire, stood first in her maiden race which was of 515 meters category.
The fourth runner to reach the finish line was, Merills Maverick, who took 17. 48 seconds to complete the distance, after breaking from trap number 3.
With the difference of merely 0.2 seconds, Ceide Rabbo, finished fifth. He started from Trap 1 and tried his best during the race to outstrip Merills Maverick and, on a few occasions, succeeded but lagged behind in the end.  
Greenlough Ball, starting from Trap 4, was the last one to finish the race in 17.57 seconds.
Overall, it was an amazing event, attended by a large number of spectators and bookies. The total prize money for the race was
€250. Each of the dogs, except the winner, got
€20.
