Henrik Sedin shines once again as Canucks take 1-0 lead in West Conference Finals
Henrik Sedin was absolutely on fire as the Vancouver Canucks faced the San Jose Sharks in the first game of the Western Conference Finals.
The game that ended with the Canucks winning with a slender one goal advantage in the end saw Sedin superb on the offence.
In fact, when the Canucks took a time-out with under one minute of play left, Sedin suggested that he should change the jersey with his brother Daniel, so as to come up with a strong performance in defence, as well with only one goal in the game.
"You have to be quick to think about things like that", Vigneault said smiling after the Canucks' 3-2 win, "(The Sedins) are just smart players. They come to play".
Henrik was coming under a lot of pressure, as he wasn’t coming up with the same numbers that he posted during the regular season. He wasn’t able to score the amount of expected points. Some say that he was performing as expected due to the fact that he has some sort of injury that he was carrying in the first two rounds.
Henrik is certainly one of those players in the Canucks line-up, who is well known for his productive abilities but he could manage only nine points in the play-offs before this game. However, this all happened in the past and now he is back on the dominating roads.
He scored at a crucial time for the Canucks winning the game for them and ending his night with two points to his name. He now has a total of 11 points in the 14 games that he has played in the play-offs so far. The important thing in this performance was this that he was able to score against one of best goal keepers in NHL, Antti Niemi that would boost his confidence even further.
"We're here to score goals and produce, and that's tough to do in the playoffs", Henrik said. "I think a lot of games we've played well and had our chances, but pucks haven't gone our way. Tonight we started out being minus-1 after the first two, but we got lucky".
The brilliant performance won the game for the Canucks and put them in a 1-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals. What the Canucks and Henrik will be hoping is that they carry the momentum forward in the second game and win that game to move closer to the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Canucks will be aware of the Sharks strong offensive and defensive capabilities and will be looking perform even better to shatter their confidence so that they can win the Conference Finals.
