Henrik Toth trounces Shai Geffen in 2013 European Club Championships – Badminton news
Hungary’s talented shuttler Henrik Toth showed his class in Group 4 stage of European Club Championships and toppled Shai Geffen on Thursday, May 30, 2013.
This 37-minute tussle was Men’s Singles tie of a match between Hatzor Bc and Multi Alarm Se. Both contenders challenged each other in all areas of game and kept the audience intact all the way to final figures of 21-19 and 21-14.
Henrik Toth laid foundation of his dominance immediately in the beginning of first set and piled up a decent total in no time. He played flawless badminton in establishing rallies and put his challenger under huge pressure.
The inexperienced shuttler Shai was not prepared for such an intensive attack as he remained at the lower end in next couple of rallies. He made every effort to rise, but then few back-to-back mistakes turned his plans into dust.
Henrik capitalised his rival’s blunders and finished first half of the set with a favourable score position. He enjoyed an upper hand in third quarter of the set as well. At first, he mounted pressure by adding many vital points in his total and then magnified
the impact with a series of productive strokes.
Although he lost grip for a short span of time, yet he managed to reinstate his dominance when it mattered. He struck hard in the final moments and won this set with a concluding total of 21-19.
The second set of match proved a one-sided affair as the Hungarian shuttler did not allow his competitor to proceed on points table and sealed a splendid straight-set victory.
Initially, he took some time to get on right track but then few back-to-back productive rallies provided him the required momentum. He made best out of this flow and placed an unassailable figure of 11 before the interval.
After the mid-game break, Henrik injected more intensity in his attack and strengthened his grip. He maintained a significant difference on the points table and wrapped this segment of the showdown with an overwhelming score of 21-14.
This win also fetched an important match point for his team Multi Alarm Se.
