  1. Henry Armstrong suffer an early round knock down then come back to KO Thomas Hearns in the later round. Thomas Hearns is a fast starter who own the biggest right hand in the welterweight division but Henry relentless pressure will eventually wear out the skinny Hitman like Sugar Ray Leonard did. However, unlike Ray Leonard who was fast and hard to hit, Henry all out attack will expose him to Thomas Hearns right hand early but his good chin will allow him to survive that then come on to win in round 9 or 10.

  2. I'd have to agree with Aceman. Hearns scores an early knock down, but Armstrong (with his relentless pressure) would come storming back wearing Hearns down to take the fight by ko in the 10th. Hearns has a history of fading late.

  3. This is a great match-up. You have Armstrong who is an inside fighter very quick, powerful and doesn't stop throwing punches against Hearns who is an outside fighter powerful and quite quick himself Hearns also has a greater arm reach.

I think what we could of seen happen if these two had meet in there prime is Hearns choosing to box and use his jab having the better reach and following up now and again with that big right hand of his. Armstrong on the other hand i think would use a lot of bobbing and weaving in order to get into range this would help him get under Tommys straight punches and go to work on the body in an attempt to wear Hearns down.

I see Tommy being able to out box Henry for the first 6 rounds and even knocking Armstrong back a bit with his right hand after that i think Armstrong would begin to get inside and land a lot more to the body by the 12th round Armstrong's face is a mess and Hearns is out on his feet unable to move as much from being worn out by body shots. With the scores about level going into the 13th rd the disfigured looking Armstrong's pressure gets to Tommy and he lands a vicious body shot sending the Hitman down for the count.

  4. I give it to Henry Amstrong one of the greatest in boxing.

  5. The "Hitman" would win by KO early in the fight! This would be like a Hearns Hagler fight at welterweight. Tommy by KO in the 4th!

  6. Hank was truly great, but at Welter Weight Hearns would KO Armstrong, Thomas was simply a monster at 147.  I gotta go against the crowd again, with all due respect to Henry, he might get up, but he would be visiting the canvass again relatively quickly.  I think Hearns would KO just about any one at welterweight, including all of today's Welterweights.  Armstong would match up well against just about anybody else, but Hearns would be too much for Hank.

  7. henry's legendary non-stop action style vs tommys size, reach and speed....and really good arguments made for both sides.

henry's would have a big weight disadvantage, while tommy's chin let him down in the big ones.

i had to really think about this one, but if henry can keep it at close quarters, he'll stop tommy in 10,  and conversely if tommy can keep it at long range, he'll win on points or late stoppage.

  8. I'm actually glad I have the flu today and have time to answer these great questions. lol.

Long story short this would be a repeat of Hagler - Hearns.

The Hitman who had blazing speed, a piston for a jab, a terrific left hook and of course possibly the most devastating right hand in Welterweight if not boxing history.

Against a man, Henry Armstrong who was a non stop punching machine and never took a backward step, the edge here for Armstrong is stamina. When Hearns would unload he had a tenancy to fade quick. He fought a legendary war with Leonard but faded bad as the championship rounds came.

Hearns could  definitely knock  Armstrong down with his awesome power and speed. But he would come roaring back in the way that made him a legend.

This fight would EXPLODE a compubox punch stat computer and last at the most 5 rounds with ''Hammerin' Hank'' winning in an exciting brawl.
