Henry Clay ready for new experience near to hat-trick
On the verge of his maiden hat-trick, the Mark Johnston trained bay colt, Henry Clay, is all ready to experience a new venue and a different sort of race conditions with a view to prove that he can be tough everywhere every time.
For the first time in his 7-race career, the three-year-old confident colt is going to run over the heavy course of Hamilton for the ace title of the Scottish Trophy Handicap. The class 4 contest over 1 mile, 1 furlongs and 36 yards is scheduled to be held
on Thursday, August 30. The victory will ensure £5,175.
Henry Clay has been at the top of his game since debuting in October 2011. After finishing as the runner-up in each of his first two starts, the young colt broke the maiden by winning Hotel & Conferencing At Wolverhampton Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton on
January 9. He was the 4-5 favourite for that race.
Then came a couple of pathetic performances, but the son of Dubawi out of Congressional recuperated soon and accomplished a grand victory in the sportinglife.com Handicap (London Mile Qualifier), held at Kempton on August 8.
The enthusiastic sprinter went on to seal top spot again in the Chieftain Fabrics Handicap at Warwick on August 21. These two back-to-back victories without favourite tags have boosted up Henry Clay’s morale to a great extent.
Now, he is keen to complete his hat-trick and this seems to be a big challenge for the colt. Let us see how better he manages to justify his talent.
Among the other runners, Another For Joe looks to be strong enough. The Jim Goldie trained bay gelding marvellously won the TurfTV Classified Stakes at Hamilton on June 13. He daringly defeated the hot favourite candidate, Third Half, to register this epic
victory.
The veteran horse finished as the runner-up against a dozen of rivals in the DC Training Apprentice Handicap, held at Doncaster on August 18.
Thus, he can prove to be tough enough for Henry Clay, and a stern scuffle is expected between the two mighty runners. Let us enjoy the charged action.
