Henry Lundy: Dannie Williams is a joke and I will strive to end the bout via knockout – Boxing news
Henry Lundy, the current North American Boxing Federation (NABF) lightweight champion, who is scheduled to defend his title against Dannie Williams, recently replied William’s last day’s verbal boasting and said that he is not scared at all since boxing
is his bread and butter, adding that Dannie is a joke and he will try to collect a knockout win over him.
For the past few days, both pugilists have been involved in a verbal skirmish and had been taunting each other for being a low-cadre, indecent brawler. Dannie was the one who started things off by calling his Friday night’s opponent ‘a weak guy who covers
up his deficiencies by talking out loud senselessly’.
Dannie and Henry are scheduled to headline ESPN2’s weekly boxing show, ‘Friday Fight Nights’. The bout will take place on March 30, 2012 and the ring for the clash will be stretched at MGM Grand Theater of Foxwoods Resort situated in Mashantucket, Connecticut,
United States. The bout is a 10-round skirmish and will have Henry’s NABF lightweight title on the line.
Dannie, infamous as the ‘Dangerous’, has been in a total 22 bouts and has lost just one bout to Eloy Perez. Since his loss, Williams is on a continuous winning streak and has nailed many hefty names such as Manuel Leyva, Antonio Cervantes, Harrison Cuello
and others.
The 27-year-old is coming from a huge and rather impressive win over Fernando Trejo. Dannie is widely known as a powerful jabber, the reason why he has collected 17 out of his total 21 wins by knockout.
Henry, on the other hand, widely known as the ‘Hammering Hank’, has been in a total 23 bouts and came out victorious in 21. He has lost just one bout to John Molina and since then is on a winning streak.
The 28-year-old champion has his own list of unique feats. After his Molina lose, Henry has nailed Omri Lowther, Patrick Lopez and recently knocked out David Diaz in the sixth round. While replying to Dannie’s boasting Henry commented, “This kid is a joke,” and
vowed that he will end the brawl via knockout, “fighting for a knockout”.
Lundy, 28, replied Dannie’s one-liner philosophical thought by saying, “You can’t scare me. You can’t derail me, because I fight for a living. I’m going to hurt this boy. There’s an old saying that goes, ‘Your arms are too short to box with God.’ I’m not
God, but in the ring I’m the closest thing to it.”
Dannie currently has WBC’s Continental Americas lightweight title round his waist and will enter the 10-round bout to not only protect his winning streak but grasp Henry’s title as well. Henry, on the other hand, will enter in his second title defence bout.
