  3. He was a catholic but as he could not re marry he formed the church of England and denounced his catholic religion.

  4. prodestant

  5. He renounced the Roman Catholic church and formed the church of England because the Pope wouldn't condone all of Henry's wives.

  6. Very devout catholic at first until he wanted a divorce from Catherine of Aragon to marry Anne Boleyn. The Catholic church made him defender of the faith. When they wouldnt allow the divorce he then invented his own religion now called Church of England proestant so he could divorce. Watch The Tudors on Fridays 9pm BBC2 its fab and gives a real insight to his early reign. Its been on for 3 weeks now and is just up to the part where he asks his Cardinal to give him a divorce.

  7. Henry VIII was a member of the Catholic church until his excommunication.  He declared himself supreme ruler of the Church in England and let the church change the rules.  However, he was strongly opposed to protestantism.  He wrote a thesis condemning Luther.  During his lifetime, religious practice changed little from the Catholic days and Henry himself claimed he had no quarrel with the bishop of Rome.

It was not until Henry died that the Church of England moved towards protestantism.

  8. King Henry VIII of England was born a Roman Catholic. After many years as King, he found himself faced with a huge crisis, he had no male heir to take over when he dies, which also lead to his marriage crisis with his first wife, a devoted Roman Catholic, Catherine of Aragon. He eventually divorced his wife and broke away from the Roman faith and established his very own Church of England and declared himself "Supreme head of the Church in England." Although he declared England to be a "Protestant" nation, he remained a "Conservative Protestant" who gives priority to traditional values and traditional beliefs and practices. Meaning his religion was created through a mix of both Catholicism and Protestant, obviously he favors whichever benefit him the most. Henry didn’t really establish new ideas about religion, he just wanted England’s church to be independent, and never really abandoning the fundamentals of the Catholic faith.

  9. He was a Catholic but to further his position in the World he changed his views carefully

He was involved with Lutheranism and finally became a Church of England Protestant but this wasn't England's "True" Religion until his daughter Elizabeth took over as his first daughter Mary (Queen before Elizabeth) was a Catholic and the country was divided during her rule.

  10. Born Catholic, founded the Church of England (Anglican church) when the Pope refused to annul his first marriage.

  11. Church of England, i.e. Protestant

  12. He was Roman Catholic, not a Catholic (which translates as universal and is a title/acolade used by the Church of England). He was raised a RC and awarded the tile defender of the faith by the pope. He is widley beleived to have founded the CofE as the pope would not allow him to divorce & re-marry but it was actualy political as it had long been felt that the pope could not be the high power in England (pre UK), also differances in theological beleif between the RC and the protestents. the CofE was formed but Hnry practised his faith in a RC fashion

  13. I don't think he could make up his mind!  A mixture of catholic and protestant which today maybe the High Church of England.  Mind you, I'm a Scot so what do I know!

  14. Henry VIII was a Roman Catholic and, despite his row with the Pope, always saw himself as a Catholic, just an English Catholic.   He was not keen on the reformation, just the re-patriation of the Church.

  15. Henry V111's religion originelly was catholic, until the pope/ vatican refused him permission to divorce/remarry, In his anger against ROME he ordered the destruction of all catholic churches and chapels, Hence the Church Of England was formed.

  16. DO whos that pokemon please buddy
