  1. whatt?

  2. Mary Boleyn had two children by Henry VIII- Catherine Carey and Henry Carey neither were acknowledged by Henry VIII as legitimate. Henry VIII helped to ensure that both children received a first class education but otherwise they were cared for my nannies and later by their mother and her husband William Stafford.

Anne's daughter, later Queen Elizabeth I, became Queen solely by fate. Her younger brother Edward became King as a child but died before reaching his 16th birthday. Queen Mary (Catherine of Aragon's daughter) became Queen upon his death and ruled until her death- probably of cancer. Elizabeth was King Henry's only surviving heir. She also left no direct heirs as she never married. Her nephew, King James of Scotland, inherited the throne from her thus passing the torch to the House of Stuart.

  3. Henry and Catherine Carey were the "reputed" illegitimate offspring of Henry VIII and Mary Boleyn. There is no real hard evidence that this is true, only speculations and debates among historians.

Names such as Henry, James, Charles, Elizabeth, Mary, Catherine, Jane and Anne were very common baby names. At least one family member would name their children after one of these names. This cannot prove that Henry Carey is the biological son of King Henry VIII.

Anne Boleyn acted as Henry Carey's patron and provided him with a top-quality education in a prestigious Cistercian monastery, and King Henry played no part in his early upbringing and later on in life.

King Henry VIII only had three legitimate royal offspring by three different wives who were the rightful heirs to the throne (illegitimate b******s were banned from inheriting the crown).

Prince Edward (King Edward VI) was the only son of Henry VIII who died at an early age with no issue. The crown went to his eldest sister, Mary Tudor who ascended the throne at the age of 37. Her reign was short and she died of stomach cancer with no issue. As the third and final child of King Henry VIII, Elizabeth was crowned as the last and final Queen of England and Ireland, since she also died without issue.

  4. His son by Anne's sister could never have inherited the throne because even if he had been fit and all that, he still could never overcome the stain of illegitimate birth. Henry could have made him a grand noble, but never an heir to the throne, this would have precipitated more civil wars, it happened barely more than 50 years ealier.

As to why Elizabeth inherited the crown... she was the last surviving of Henry's children, and after her the throne passed to the most senior of Henry VII's descendants, who happened to be already king of Scotland : James Stuart, son of Mary Queen of the Scots and  great great grandson to Henry VII

  5. Elizabeth inherited the throne because she was the rightful heir.  Henry VIII had three legitimate children, all of which inherited.  The first was Edward VI, who inherited because he was the only son.  He died childless, so the throne went to his older sister Mary.  She also died childless, at which point the throne passed to her younger sister Elizabeth.  All three children are half-silblings: they have the same father but different mothers, but all three mothers were married to Henry at the time of their children's birth.

If Mary Boleyn had a child with Henry (and I'm not sure where you're getting that idea.  I've never heard it suggested before), that child was illigitimate, and people regularly did not acknowledge illigitimate children, because it would be publically admitting to sinful acts.

  6. Elizabeth was his 3rd child to inherit the throne, after his death.

  7. Because he couldn't under English law at the time.  He recognized him as his son and ennobled him, but couldn't put him legitimately in line for the throne.

In fact, all 3 of Henry VIII's legitimate children inherited the throne - first Edward VI (his son by Jane Seymour), then Mary (his daughter by Catherine of Aragon) and then Elizabeth II (his daughter by Anne Boleyn).  It wasn't anything special about Elizabeth - she was simply the last of his legitimate offspring available after Mary died.

  8. i think that story has a lot of things in it that no historian will ever know. Its obvious he was not "healthy, either physically nor mentally" Im guessing, when he forced Catherine to leave he realized too late what a mistake he had made. I think I want to say he got himself "caught in a storm of relationships" From what i know, Anne was very flirtatious with him, and he did not stop at nothing till he had her. I also think ANne had something to do with the fact that Mary's child never got a title ( i cant explain how queen elizabeth I got a title) Again, its obviously something in history which we will never know the entire story and so it must remain a myster, sorry!

  9. Elizabeth was declared illegitimate after her mother Anne was beheaded and her marriage to Henry anulled. She was three years old.  Her half sister Mary (Henry's first wife, Katherine of Aragon's daughter) remained the rightful heir. She later died and Elizabeth was reinstated as Henry's legitimate daughter after her previous illegitinacy was declared unlawful. Therefor, Elizabeth was the rightful heir to the throne and became queen.

  10. There is no proof that mary's children were Henry's, and in fact it is most unlikely.  Henry generally married off his mistresses after he had finished with them, which is what he did with Mary.  We do not know how long Henry's relationship with Mary lasted, but it probably wasn't very long.  and henry was not very good at fathering living children, especially boys.  Anyway, it is not likely that Elizabeth would consider a b*****d son of her father's of doubtful provenance as a suitable heir to the throne.

Henry's only acknowledged b*****d was henry Fitzroy, who died at the age of 17.  henry Fitroy was the son of Bessie blount.  I think the person who said that Henry acknowledged Mary's son is probably confusing him with Fitzroy.
