Question:

Hens Party?

When did they start calling bacholerette parties "Hens Parties?" I keep seeing it all over this site, and I have never heard it referred to that before. I think it's about the stupidest name ever. Where did this come from?

And why aren't people referring to the Bachelor Parties as "Rooster Parties?"

  1. my mother in law called it a hen's party too...and she's not from, nor has she ever been to england!  LOL!  she's crazy though.  when she said it i just thought it was a term that was used a LONG time ago.  they don't call them rooster parties because...i think...the reference to a hen is for the clucking that apparently women sound like when in groups.

  2. I think that's what they call it in England- Hen's Night, or a Hen's Party.  Bachelor parties used to be called Stag Parties, referring to a male of the species, as in deer.  I don't think people ever call bachelor parties "rooster parties," but think of the synonym for rooster that we use to describe jerky guys (or their favorite body part!) all the time...
