  1. Maybe you should leave the chicken somewhere wherein the nesting boxes should be their sleeping nest...

and the chicken will probably be too heavy since it is carrying an egg, so just place it in the box and it wouldn't be able to move so much because of the egg in it... =))

  2. They SHOULD lay in  the nesting boxes, they usually do if the boxes are provided but they also have minds of their own and can be stubborn. Good Luck and LOVE THOSE CHICKENS!!!

  3. Hi there,

No need to train them [laughing...I'm imagining you standing there with a chair and whip like a lion tamer!]

They will lay in the nesting box on their own. It is natural for them when they are ready to lay to find somewhere dark and quiet away from the rest of the hens to lay their eggs so most coops situate the nesting box away from the door where it is quiet and warm.

It is so amazing when you open the box and see your first egg...I can remember checking every day and feeling so disappointed when there was nothing there. I still get a buzz every day when I go and collect them and they taste sooooooooo good.

They have wonderful tasty yolks that sit high and round when you crack the egg in a pan and the white doesn't run out over a four foot space...it sits neatly around the sunny middle and tastes delish!

Good luck....you are going to absolutely be thrilled when they start laying!

    Best of Luck
