Hepatitis Viruses/high liver alt & ast levels?

my husband is in basic. he was in the hospital for a broken knee and they said his liver levels are high..could he be exposed to hepatitis viruses? if so is it cure able ..i talk to him today but I'm just doing some research

  1. Liver enzymes can be elevated from all sorts of things - many common viral infections, drinking alcohol, or taking medicines like Tylenol or Alleve.   You can't tell too much from a single test if he has had any of these things that elevate liver enzymes.  


  2. Yes, they have treatment. Contact a liver doctor and have them run tests on him to see what Genotype he has and what treatment would be best for him. There is always hope and It is very hard to catch. Probably a tattoo, blood transfusion, or drug use from a needle would cause this. There are also piercings, needle pricks, or sharing a straw with someone who snorts cocaine. I would never judge anyone for anything. It is just a strange virus you might not know you have for years. At least he found out early before it damages his liver. There is always hope and you can find some really good doctor's who have the knowledge to help him. Good luck in the meantime.
