is hepatitis in horses contagious to other horses?if so how???

  1. Hepatitis is liver inflammation.  Sometimes infection is present, and some infections are contagious.  So, it depends on what type of hepatitis the horse has....if it is infectious as in some viral forms, then other horses may pick it up by blood contact, especially via biting flies that are infected by the f***s, or by biting the infected horse and then biting other horses. I'm not sure, but some mosquitos may also carry the viral forms.


  2. Well according to Merck's site says horses that are on the same location should be watched, so I'd say it's contagious.
