Her Majesty’s Momentary prevails in the Swettenham Stud Fillies' Trial Stakes at Newbury
A shocking turn of events took place in the Swettenham Stud Fillies' Trial Stakes at Newbury on 18th May, 2012, as The Queen owned, Momentary, succeeded in a grand manner.

The filly was a longshot with a chance of 33-1, but she pleasantly surprised her connections and raised her esteem among them.
The winning trainer Michael Bell appreciated the bay filly’s performance race in these words:
"I was hoping she'd run well as she'd been working like our best filly at home, but I wasn't sure how good that was, if that makes sense.
"It's a nice surprise she's won as it looked a good race on paper, but I was hoping she'd give a good account of herself. It's nice to win any Listed race, but it's particularly satisfying to win for Her Majesty.”
The daughter of Nayef, out of mare Fleeting Memory, proved her worth well, as she was up against some of the toughest competitors, but jockey Hayley Turner worked her magic on her and led the filly to victory.
The three-year-old filly was challenged by the Hughie Morrison trained, Shirocco Star, in the final furlong, but in the capable hands of the rider, she finished a short-head before the runner-up.
Starscope, who raced as a favourite with a winning shot of 6-5 finished third, 3 ¾ lengths behind the runner-up, a disappointing run since she has recently been in extremely good form.

The John Gosden  trained chestnut filly finished as a runner-up in the prestigious Group 1 Qipco 1,000 Guineas Stakes (British Champions Series) where she was beaten by Homecoming Queen at Newmarket on 6th May, 2012.
The Roger Varian trained, Firdaws, was also expected to do better than her seventh place finish, as her past performances show that she can definitely do better than she did yesterday.
Momentary’s victory at this track has stirred some significant attention from the market.

Michael Bell stated that she is likely to compete in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot instead of the Oaks, since she may have a good chance of winning. It would be an honour for him to secure another victory for the Queen.
