is it possible that a gas giant could have a moon as big or larger then earth that could support life like our or or humanoid type life i know earth is special but can't be the only one of it's kind in a galaxy this large or universe this great

    Why couldn't the earth be the only planet with intelligent life in the galaxy?

  3. no, it is not, it is just not dense enough, and therefore does not have enough gravity, it would just be pulled by seperate gas particles. The first guy is wrong.

  4. It's possible, but the moon would need a very strong magnetic field to protect the life from the radiation generated by the gas giant

  5. Sure.  But the 'earth' had best have a kick butt magnetic field.  The radiation around Jupiter is murder.

    Could an 'earth' at Jupiter's orbit have enough light and heat for life?  Sure.  A nice green house effect could keep it toasty.
