Herbs : A plant whose stem does not produce woody, persistent tissue and generally dies back at the end of each growing season or

any of various often aromatic plants used especially in medicine or as seasoning.

Some HERBS were characterized as WEED since they may invade other plants because most of them are fast-growing type plants.

Some non-woody WEEDs were characterized as HERBS when they have valuable value (e.g. for seasoning or medicine).

Conclusion:  When there are herbs on your lawn but you don't want them, then they are weeds.
