Hercules striker David Trezeguet slams Real Madrid over loan star
Hercules striker David Trezeguet has attacked Real Madrid over a condition in Royston Drenthe’s deal that could prevent the on-loan winger from featuring in the sides’ clash on Saturday, 30 October.
The 23-year-old Dutchman moved to Hercules on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window. But if the Alicante-based club wants to field him in their match with the La Liga leaders, they could be forced to hand over two million Euros to his permanent
employers.
While Drenthe is keen to play, it is unlikely that Hercules will fork out such a large sum for him to play in just one game.
As a result, former Juventus forward and 1998 FIFA World Cup winner Trezeguet has slammed Madrid, telling reporters, "This makes no sense — it is absurd. These are new things for me in football that, frankly, I did not know about. Unfortunately
if Roy cannot play it is a major loss for us because of the system we play. Hopefully, whoever replaces him can do well or better."
Despite his criticism of the club, Trezeguet had high praise for Madrid’s talents on the pitch, claiming that their coach Jose Mourinho had a wealth of players capable of winning games on their own.
"They have the best offence, and the best individuals. This is a great moment for Hercules, and we want to record a good result against this great team. Their entire squad are almost all internationals, and so we will try to learn quickly, but we have produced
great games against good teams already this season."
Hercules are heading into the game with the aim of carrying out another giant-killing shock, following on from their 2-0 victory over Barcelona earlier in the season at the Camp Nou.
