Roy Jones/ Anderson Silva fight......................................

Anyone with a brain knows that Roy would kill this guy in a boxing match......................................

But here's something for you MMA people to chew on, even in a street or cage fight the MMA fighter first has to get his arms wrapped around the boxer or get the boxer on the ground, OR land some sort of kick- (that can be ducked or blocked or just gotten out of the way of)

The best boxers have great legs, great head movement, and great arm blocking and pushing technique- (they sometimes use their forearms)- So it's not an automatic given that the best MMA fighter would even be able to get the boxer out of position to gain the advantage!.................................

And lastly, the best boxer/punchers can kill or seriously hurt a guy with just one punch, and with those small thinly padded MMA gloves PLEASE!- RESPOND!

  1. Tapout-" a MMA fighter b/c if they are smart they would keep the distance (and take the boxer down) Well now, if they keep their distance there not going to be in position (or distance) for a take down. So there lies the problem.

Nobody is going to beat a boxer when it comes down to 'fistcuffs'. For instance, some of the MMA guy's have a great hook and/or a good cross, but a boxer has a vast array of punches, all properly thrown, and coming from diferent angles with proper timing. A MMA guy is not going to be able to trade with a boxer. (Can you imagine a MMA fighter closing in on Rocky Maricano or Jack Dempsey? - Ever been to a Baseball game where the ball was 'hit' out of the park?)

I,m not saying it could never happen in a bout. A MMA fighter would need to be a great kicker. FAST and HARD with his kicks. But another problem could arise here if the MMA kicker tries a KO head kick. Because the boxer can dance, bob, weave, block, parry, etc. He's use to people throwing at his head, and with MULTIPLE punches (kick) in split-seconds. So a single kick to the head could prove a poor choice. The MMA man would have to use multiple low kicks to try and disrupt the distance and timming of the boxer, and then he had better be VERY, very fast in his takedown, otherwise...

  2. This question can't be serious?  Any pro boxer would be able to knock a MMA guy out in boxing, but the same goes the other way and MMA guy would destroy a boxer in an MMA fight.  Its that simple. Stop trying to campare these sports, they are too different.

  3. agree with u.. u should also add that mma fighter doesn't have the legs to stand on for a whole fight, once they hold each other they go to the ground rolling.. u can't be a boxer if u don't have good legs, standing on ur legs for a whole fight is a challenge in boxing, mma fighters probably don't have what it takes to stand on their feet for a whole fight

  4. a boxer wouldnt have a chance in h**l with a mma fighter.

  5. Both boxing and mma have their place,  but mma will never hold the status of boxing.  Most boxers have trouble with grapplers,  but not enough trouble to make a difference.  I have no problem at all with a mma guy trying to lock his fingers behind my neck in order to try and knee me, he's gonna get knocked out with a counter up the middle (punch or elbow).  I do have problems once I lose my footing, I have never been much good as a wrestler, but I am pushing 50 wrestling with my 20 year old son, so the age thing makes it difficult or us old timers.  BJJ locks and bars are enough to make anyone respect mma, but a good boxer can pretty much pick apart most martial artists, the deciding factor is conditioning, so I give the edge to the boxer.

  6. Everything depends on the training, stamina, and the individual.

Stays on feet - Jones Jr. by decision

    Ground - Silva by submission

  7. those who couldn't box, fight

those who couldn't fight, do anything

    enough said

  8. Ray Mercer was old & out of shape, that fight should never have happened but it was a good introduction for Kimbo.

Kimbo (a former boxer) is new to MMA and is already considered not only a future superstar but a real threat to everyone in MMA? hows that? He is just learning the art of this sport?

Because before these guys get close they get cracked!!

  9. That's been my assertion.  Before the MMA guy can hug and mount the opponent, he first have to move into punching range.  That's why a good boxer would always beat a good MMA guy in the MMA ring.

  10. Look up remy bonjasky vs ray mercer and it might give you a good idea of what would happend if a kickboxer faces a boxer. Even though a boxers legs are good, doesnt mean mean they know how to leg check a kick. Boxers are also not well conditioned to take a kick to the leg. Kick boxers and mma fighters know how to set up kicks. A punch is shorter then a kick, I don't think roys jones would be able to block a kick because there is a chance that he could duck into one.

Of course it also goes down to this

    Roy jones>anderson silva boxing match

Anderson silva > Roy jones Kick boxing (not mma)

Roy jones and Anderson silva in mma somewhat even.

  11. Yea thats why Royce gracie beat Art Jimmerson. thats why Kimbo beat Ray Mercer. A guy who knows what hes doing may take one or two shots from the best boxer to get in a clinch. From there it's our world. Face it just because you can throw a punch dosnt mean you can fight anymore.

P.S. I got n a fight with a boxer once Wrestling and Judo background. I beat the s.h.i.t. out of him because once it was on the ground he had no idea

  12. A boxer would not have the chance to KO a MMA fighter b/c if they are smart they would keep the distancce and take the boxer down, and on the ground the boxer would be as good as dead. they would get tapped or their face would be pounded into mush.

olympic gold medalist Ray Mercer fought Kimbo Slice (who is not even top 10 in MMA) and lost in 1 min. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UcmIQ4xL...

a boxer would get over whelmed in an MMA fight. they are too one dimensional.
