Please read this in its entirety before throwing out an answer because this is a challenging question and I have done hours of research already.

I am looking specifically for individually wrapped daifuku mochi around 1.5 oz so it stays fresh to use for wedding favors.

The smallest daifuku mochi I can find is 3.7 oz and that is too big. (http://www.currythecat.com/whitedaifukumochi.JPG).

I like these 1.5 oz mochi's made by Shirakiku in a container , but they are not individually wrapped (http://www.veryasia.com/199236.html).

The only individually wrapped mochi I can find do not taste that good. I already bought it and tried it a(http://goodstuffhi.com/store/large/176rk/Jade_Seeds_and_Snacks/Jade_Mochi_Delight_1_Pound_Package.html).

I have looked at 99 ranch, mitsuwa, trader joe's, henry's market, whole foods, marukai, all the mom & pop chinese and japanese stores I can find, and all over the internet including the corporate websites of shirakiku.

  1. I don't think it's a good idea in general to give perishables such as mochi as wedding

favors.  Even when they are individually wrapped, given the time they have to be sitting in room temp, without proper refrigeration they still go bad( if they don't then you need to worry about the preservatives)

    By the way,

I am a survivor of food poisoning of bad mochi, and it's not fun AT ALL!!
