According to findings from an inquest conducted by the coroners office in the Bahamas, Aaliyah suffered from "severe burns and a blow to the head," in addition to severe shock. The coroner theorized that, even if Aaliyah had survived the crash, her recovery would have been virtually impossible given the severity of her injuries.[6]

I really don't understand what blow to the head means and also I don't understand that she was on severe shock, how do a medis figure out that???

  1. Angle O said it better than I could say it

  2. "a blow to the head" means trauma to the head.

I am assuming this was a car accident?

Shock is a potentially fatal condition that causes her tissues to receive insufficient blood flow, usually because of excessive bleeding from an injury or injuries.

  3. Blow to the head means head trauma. She either hit her head on something during the plane crash, or something hit her in the head.

There are several types of shock- anaphylactic, cardiac, neurogenic, hypovolemic. Depending on her other injuries, that would be the cause. If she had lost a large amount of blood, it would cause hypovolemic shock. She wouldn't have enough blood to carry oxygen to keep her brain and heart functioning. Given the blow to her head, she could have also had neurogenic shock. With this type, the head injury could have caused nerve damage, and then the blood vessels couldn't constrict (to keep blood towards the heart/lungs/brain) and they stay dialated.
