Seriously, why do so many restaurants have music playing (usually loud), in their restrooms? What is the thinking here?

Have we gotten to the point where we actually need musical entertainment when using the toilet or urinal?

  1. maybe they do it so they can be kind to the people with chronic bowel problems, and it gives them something to listen to while they are sitting there waiting for the moment of truth.

  2. I agree, but I don't think it's intentional.  The music in the bathroom isn't necessarily at a higher decibel level than the music in the dining room, but since you're in a more enclosed space (and usually one with tile!) it SEEMS a lot louder. :-)

  3. i agree with MEzzo,

and also some people are self conscious of using the restroom in public when there are other strangers in the stalls next to them. perhaps this is done on purpose to deter their self consciousness?
