how are protozoa able to take decisions such as which way to go, what is food and what is not, how to move their flagella, pseudopods or cillia etc. if they lack a nervous system?

  1. There are 2 systems that control an animals movement and behavior: nervous system and endocrine system. Nervous system respond to small changes in electrical charges while endocrine system is a chemical response. Although protozoans don't have either of the systems, they do have a system that responds to chemical changes in their environment. The sensors on the surface of protozoans detect chemical molecules in their environment and cause the animal to act properly.
