Here's the situation...?

Pretend you have no car and no bicycle. Right now, would you be more likely to buy a Large SUV or a commuter bicycle?

Definitely not a SUV (or a truck).  I don't need anything that big (EVER) and I hate the look of them anyway.  And now that gas price has gotten ridiculous - truck is just stupid.

I could ride my bike (bicycle).  When I was younger I used to ride my bike all over NYC.  Something like 20 to 40 miles per day.

I'd go with the bicycle.  SUVs are too big for their own good, take up too much room in parking stalls and don't fit too well in my apartment building's parking structure, or the one at my office.

I wouldn't be able to carry as much with the bike, but that's okay since I don't shop much anyway.  I don't travel far in my daily routine, so walking, biking or the bus are always options for me.  Having commuted by bike before I know that I just need to add 15-20 minutes to change clothes and freshen up from the ride.

A bicycle...why are your choices on the opposite sides of the spectrum...why not a car, why not a motorcycle?

A commuter bicycle like a Breezer, since it has all the things you need to carry your stuff and be seen on the road and still go fast. I would not by any type of car today, and i have never driven a car in my entire life.
