when will the Kepler telescope be reay for use so we can find planets like our own ; and is it possible that a planet larger or smaller could have human life or intelegent life forms like our own

I would say Already,As earth is one of the smallest planets ,But I'm sure you no ,It takes water& sunlight at the right degree to produce life

A planet with life probably couldn't be much smaller because it has to have enough gravity to hold an atmosphere.  I personally don't see why a really huge planet couldn't have life.  If it had a lot of surface gravity, the life would be very different from Earth life though.

The current launch is February 2009.  As we get closer to launch, this becomes more and more firm.  However, the mission's launch date has slipped several times.

It should be a great mission.

Check out Dr. Frank Drake's podcast at the link.  He talks about how the places in the Universe where live could evolve is much wider than it used to be thought.  For example, planets with elliptical orbits (rather than the Earth's nearly circular orbit), planets much farther from their stars (using green house gasses to keep them toasty warm), and so on are now candidates.

But all these shows are totally awesome.
