I'm bored to death! I only work 5 hrs so I have free afternoons but I have nothing to do. Is there anything nice I can do (other than swimming) in Phoenix, Az keeping in mind that we live in a triple-digit weather?

  1. I understand what you are saying.  I go to the mall, either Chandler or Scottsdale Fashion Squares are fun to walk around.

Arizona Mills Mall is usually busy to people watch.  Gameworks at the mills mall is fun.

Next weekend is the gun show at the fairgrounds.  In August there is a home and garden show.

I just haven't found too many fun things to do during the summer.  The winter on the other hand is awesome, there is always a festival or expo to go too.

  2. --Go a museum (check azcentral.com for suggestions)

--Go pottery painting (As You Wish or Color Me Mine)

--Hit the clearance racks at Kohls or TJ Maxx

--Check out the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall at I-17 and Cactus.  They have something for everyone there.  My 10 year old son loves that place.

--If you love animals, volunteer at the Arizona Humane Society.

  3. go bicycle riding or run track, outdoors cross country, take a hike,  i live in yuma and that is what i do, well i don,t run, but i would if i could, and i would take a hike, used to do it alot, i do ride a bicycle, sometimes, the streets are empty,    yeah, go to the gym and sit in the pool,  hang around in the desert,   drive in the desert,   take pictures of the sweltering heat waves   come visit one of my theme parks, if i ever won a lottery i would have one of those themeparks, in these desert areas,    you could have all the winter fun you want,    from taking a walk down a snow covered street, to a carriage ride,in a Central park like setting, build a Snowman,    or go ice fishing on the next level, of course you can go slay riding and have a snowball fight,   build a fire and go for a horse drawn slay ride,     or just hang around in a city like new york city setting,       go ice skating,  what is your winter fantasy? keep it clean, family thieme park,    or you can just hang around with the gang and throw snowballs at the passing buses, and people, yes, you can even rent a shovel and salt and shovel your imaginary sidewalk in front of your house,   or dig your car out from a blizzard,    what do you say??  not your everyday theme park, and not one of those grab your skis kind of places, more like a city setting in the 1950.s

  4. mall. fiddlesticks. ice skating. swimming. water park. friendz houses. sleep. chill. watch tv. uhmm crackjacks. there's a lot to do even though it's boiling.

  5. We would often go to the Tempe Library where it was nice

and coooool. We'd look at new magazines, or checked out

books of the history of the different areas of Arizona we'd

    be interested in seeing.

There was also a new and used book store in Tempe that

you could sell books or magazines in new shape. And you

could buy as well, at discounted prices. I can't remember the

name of the store, but it was well known.

We would  also drive up to Carefree for a couple of hours.

And go through some of the shops in the village square. And

drop down to Cave Creek to the Mexican restaurant for a nice

meal and enjoy the ambiance there.

One day we drove to Tempe or maybe it was Mesa, to go

through the historical museum there. Any place indoors that

had cool air conditioning, we'd check out. We even found a

    buffalo museum in Scottsdale.

We went through a grand opening of new homes once, that were nice and cool and took our time looking at the new innovations in home decorating they had on display. We lucked out since they were giving away free Indian made Navaho tacos. The lady showed my husband how to make them. And he's done so many times.

Check out the Goodwill Industries store, you never know

what new things have been donated from stores. And it's

nice and cool inside. They have nice clean stores. Especially

in Tempe. You can get lost in one of their stores when you

see all of the variety they have. And you might just get hooked on thrift store browsing. My husband will tell you, he is!

  6. That's a good question. I moved to Phoenix from OC, California 4 years ago and have to tell ya, there's really nothing fun going on in this town!

If you like driving Scottsdale has an awesome high-end shopping district / mall. If you like gambling there's always Casino Arizona right up the I-17 not too far.

  7. go to the mall.

  8. HAHA i used to live there!

    ummm you could go shopping

    or to the movies

    or home

i know how that weather is

    it sucks

  9. Join a local health club or the Phoenix downtown YMCA.
