In spite of all the downsizing, mergers, bank closures, outsourcing and foreclosures, too many top executives are still receiving outrageous bonuses and salaries.

  1. Actually there shouldn't be a minimum wage. If someone is willing to accept that little for a job they should be able to take it.

  2. There is a maximun wage in this country. Go to work for Home Depot and you will see what I mean.

  3. No, of course not. What a ridiculous idea! People should be paid whatever the market can support for their skill sets. If they make good money, more power to them!

  4. Yes, I'd put it at about 1 million per year.

A lot of people will say it's a "personal liberty issue". That's bogus.By that logic, any destructive practice (murder, rape, theft) could be defended by claiming it restricts "personal liberty". Having a class-stratified economy just begs for conflict.

  5. No, I think it keeps other wages down, falsely.

Even once the minimum wage is raised to $7.25 next year, that's not a "living wage."  I am a college graduate and make $11.11 an hour.  Why did I even bother going to school if I'm going to make less than $4 an hour than someone who may not have even gotten through high school?

  6. No, I don't feel there should be a maximum wage, but I do think it is ridiculous how much some people make such as actors, musicians, etc.  (let's not forget the athletes!)

  7. What, in the home of Capitalism...Some Chance!

  8. That is called communism or socialism. We are a capitalistic society. Having people try harder and harder to make as much money as they can is what helps the economy and keeps people working harder.

I personally don't believe there should be  a minimum wage. As someone who owns a business it's hard. Say I can only hire 3 employees at 6 dollars an hour or I can hire 6 employees at 3 dollars an hour. I would be able to make more ouput resulting in more input for my company.

Also, by being only about to hire 3 employees I've actually hurt the other 3 people who would have been willing to work for less, so i've HURT unemployment. having a min. wage actually creates unemployment.

And PS. I dropped out of high school and have about 30 college credits to my name. I am a single mother and I am under 30 years old.  I also make about 300k a year. So go figure. It's what I love about this country. If you have inspiration and ideas you can make anything happen.

  9. h**l no. Who are you (or anyone else except share holders) to set salaries for private companies. There should be no minimum wage. And there should certainly be no maximum wage.

  10. No, I don't think there should be a "maximum wage". Even in SOCIALIST countries they haven't done that.

I DO think that some Top Executives ARE getting paid too much... THAT could and should be legislated to an extent.

  11. So, doing something about it would make this country NOT free!  Don't you worry about those top executives the corproations can afford their saleries!

  12. This is America. The land of opportunity. I don't need the government telling me how much money I can make.

  13. I don't think that's so outrageous. It is outrageous that CEOs can make millions even when a company is not making any money or it is actually losing money. But good luck with implementation. It's the people that have the most money that call the shots. We are all just players to their whims and egos.

  14. Sort of interferes with rights we have in this country.

  15. Become a top executive, and show us your honesty.

  16. No.

  17. At some companies there is a maximum wage for some jobs.  Of course that doesn't include management.

  18. No I don't think there should be a maximum wage. People work hard for what the earn some spend 10 years at the bottom and when they make it to the top that is a huge accoplishment thus they should be paid accordingly. I say this because my husband has worked his a** off in construction for 10 years. In extremley hot & cold conditions and now becuase off all of that hard work he had the knowledge and was capable of passing the GA State Exam and became a very sucessful General Contractor.
