...I brushed back a lock of silver hair and pulled the sword out of the dead soldier. Examining the blade I noticed that the embedded jewel in the hilt had begun to glow. I shivered. There was more to this sword than met the eye. Looking up I jumped out of the way just as a soldier lunged at me with his sword. As I hit the ground I slashed out with my blade, cutting the man’s left hand off. The soldier screamed in pain as blood began to flow from the stump of his left hand. Grimacing I quickly cut off his head and turned to greet the next soldier, a small broad-shouldered man with crooked teeth. He smiled and swung his massive axe at me. This time I wasn’t able to avoid the attack and all I could do was raise my sword in resistance. My sword was flung out of my hand as the axe connected with a metallic clang. I was left defenseless. But then he was before me and all happy thoughts vanished from my head, like a rose that suddenly withered and died when the sun was blocked out. The bearded man smiled again, an evil glint in his eye, obviously looking forward to my despise. His axe came down, the axe head glittering menacingly in the fading sun. But before it could land I suddenly pushed out with my feet, driving the spikes of my shoes into the man’s stomach. He cried out and dropped his axe where it landed centimeters from head. Scrambling to my feet I rushed into the man, tackling him to the ground. Adrenaline rushed throughout my whole body, and I felt like my blood was on fire. I jumped on top of the fallen man and pulling his long hair up I shoved his face into the dirt. He let out a cry as I smashed his face into the ground again and again until his face was all broken and bloody. Then, spit running down my chin and arms tired, I leaned out and pulled his axe out of the ground. The man let out a whimper as I stood up and drove the axe with all my might into his neck. I then stood up and spat on the ground. My brain a confused mess I took a few steps foward...
