My wife asked me this one and I thought I'd see what everyone thought.

If the armed forces (army, navy, air force, marines, coast guard, and national guard) are supported by our tax dollars, and they are sponsoring race cars, are our tax dollars helping to sponsor these cars too ?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge NASCAR fan, root for Kevin Harvick, have since 2001, but it was a valid question and I was not able to answer her. What do you think?

  1. That is a good question. I think most of our tax dollars goes to their salary, and to pay for training, weapons and stuff like that. I know that it don't go to no $100.00 toilet seat cover!!

But that would be kinda cool if it did go to help sponsor the car. Good tax dollars at work.

  2. Yes,As a tax payer we all want the Government to spend our money wisely. I think this is spending our money wisely. To recruit future soldiers to server in the Best Military and for the Best Country the world has seen to date.

  3. thats a good question probably just like the comercials and ads/ yes

  4. Yes, but it's really no different than the commercials they produce. Car sponsorship is included in the Armed Forces promotion budget, same as advertising.

  5. AH YEA

  6. Wow,i have no idea lol

  7. Each branch of the service is allotted aadvertisment budget and it come out of there.

also each driver does promos and other stuff for each sponsers such as visits..and promotional visists for what they are paying for.

  8. I don't think it comes out of our tax payer money because I think that would be misappropriation of funds. However, I do believe that it comes out of all of the military gear sold such as t-shirts, support your troops stuff, souvenir items like mugs and those mesh hats that old men wear, and possibly from their part of the funds they earn from the NASCAR merchandise sales.

I wondered that too once and that is the only explanation I can think of.

  9. Yes we do. I agree with david g-24 RULES !!!!! that it is money well spent.

  10. of course, do you think our senators and congress men are using the money out of there own pocket.  It's all part of advertising. Coast Guard and Dale Jr. I bet the enlistment rate has gone up for coast guard.  Have a nice day.

  11. those dollars are going to advertising and marketing - something the military does anywhere they can find young men and women.  they sponsor motorsports across the board, and in some cases (like the dale jr division in the navy) probably bring in recruits that would not otherwise consider joining.

i would guess their return on investment is much higher for their sponsoring race teams than many of their other marketing campaigns.

good question - have a star. i'd give you five, but my rank only allows me to give one.

    ;-)

  12. Jr Nation is way bigger than you can imagine. We are the government.

  13. Yes the taxpayers money is sponsoring cars. It is part of the armed forces marketing money and what better venue to get to young people . It definitely is money well spent .
