Here is a puzzle,I cldnt solve!!!!!!!?

Question

A man wants to go to top floor.He is on first floor n there r 100 steps.He takes 20 seconds while escalator is not moving.N takes 10 seconds while escalotor is going upwards.How much time wld he take when escalator is going downwards........

hmm i don't know but if it takes 20 secs to not move & 10 while going up, then it should take 10 while going down too. so i say 30 secs but that could be a trick question because you were'nt asking him to go down. thats all i can figure out, i really dont know lol!

speed of the man is 5 steps/sec

speed of the escalator is 5 steps/ sec(assuming he is running on the escalator if not it is 10 steps/ sec)

so if the escalator is going downward its speed is -5 steps/sec.

so the combine speed of the escalator and man is  = 5 - 5= 0 steps/ sec.

he will stay in the same spot.
